Short Description
Hailing from a far-flung lineage of Keepers, Maelys is relatively new to city life. She’s still in the process of going through the growing pains of adjusting life among many cultures, and the crowded hubbub of the city states. She is forthright and honest to a fault, and can easily rub new acquaintances the wrong way despite her best intentions. Some might describe her less favorably as being pushy and arrogant, but those who come to know her as a friend are able see a much warmer side of her.Her appearance is oddly tiger-like for a miqo’te. Long black clanmarks run all the way down both sides of her body, from her cheeks to calves. Her hair is flecked with stripes of white, and her ears and tail are not of a typical shape. When asked about this, she is usually quick to change the subject.Alignment: Lawful GoodMBTI Personality Type: ENFJ. Extroverted, Intuitive, Feeling, Judging.

Proud: Maelys very rarely meets a challenge she isn’t willing to accept, regardless of whether or not it’s a good idea. She’s easily goaded into competitions, and never lets anyone insult her with impunity. Is your character similarly competitive? Did they say something to try to get a rise out of her?School of Hard Knocks: Maelys’ stubborn natures means that she often has to learn life lessons the hard way. She’s headstrong, and tends to approach problems in an extremely direct way. Did she accidently blunder into a trap, and require rescue? Did her straightforward approach end up inconveniencing your character in some way?Lonely: Despite her steely outward behavior, Maelys is quietly desperate to find a place to belong in her new environment. She’s constantly on the look out for other adventurers, prospective employers, or those in need. If she finds someone she judges worthy, she might end up trailing them around like a lost puppy.Arcanophobia: Maelys is wary of magic users, doubly so those who fight by her side. A handful of unfortunate experiences have convinced her that most spellcasters, regardless of whose team they are on, are liable to blow her up. Did your character end up working a job with her, only to discover her latent fear of magic? Are they interested in helping her overcome her paranoia of spellcraft?Cat out of the Forest: Maelys traditional keeper upbringing means that there’s a lot of gaps in her understanding of how the wider world works. She’s not used to interacting with those outside of race, save the rare encounter with Gridanians. Men in particular are vexing to her, since they are usually kept at arm’s length in Keeper homes. New situations fluster Maelys easily, and a flustered Maelys often resorts to violence. Did something happen that caught her off guard? Did your character notice her losing her cool?Sweet Tooth: Maelys is impressed by strong fighters and capable hunters.

Did they need help with something, but are unwilling to part with their gil?Ala Mhigo Bound: Maelys makes frequent trips to Ala Mhigo to further her training as a monk, and has slowly come to appreciate it as a second home. I tend to get the last 30% of the way there by just throwing my characters into roleplay; any interactions she has may end up being formative to her backstory and personality.
